MARCELO BUCATER

Marcelo Bucater is a drummer, percussionist, and educator from São Paulo, Brazil, based in Los Angeles since 2013.

He is the Drum Department Chair at the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM), where he teaches both private and group lessons.

As a bandleader, Marcelo released the album After the Storm with his quartet in September 2024. That same year, he also put out the EP First Flight with the Triple Shot Trio. His music is available on all major streaming platforms.

Marcelo has built a wide-ranging career as both a session and touring musician, recording and performing with a diverse list of artists. His versatility has taken him around the world, working across many different musical styles.

His credits include Carrie Underwood (51st ACM Awards), Arthur Verocai, Adrian Younge (Jazz Is Dead), Ladybug Mecca (Digable Planets), Tinto Tango (Latin Grammy winner), Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, Adam Levy, Darek Oles, Scott Henderson, Shahbal Shabpareh and The Black Cats, John Avila (Oingo Boingo), Gemini, Natália Spadini, Shandy and Eva, Koobong Ensemble, and Phat Cat Swinger, among others.

He has performed at venues and festivals such as Lincoln Center (NY), London Jazz Festival, Uber Jazz Festival, Le Guess Who? Festival, the Rose Bowl, Levi’s Stadium, MGM Grand Garden Arena (Las Vegas), Microsoft Theater, Hollywood Pantages Theatre, Pershing Square (LA), El Rey Theatre, the NAMM Show, Thalia Hall, the Queen Mary, The Mayan, and Disney California Adventure.

Marcelo has a Masters in Jazz Performance from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
